Dont you think these sites are doing nothing to add value to the web. Go through the listings provided by each of these 'wonder sites' and you will know what i mean. Its high time directory owners shifted focus from webmasters to real visitors looking for information and its also high time google came down heavily upon these disguised link vendors.
